Oregon Pioneer Mylar® Sleeves
Sleeves are the most cost-effective way to protect your smaller paper items from damage from handling and storage, whether you store your items in boxes, file drawers, or albums. Sleeves are manufactured by folding, on highly automated equipment, making them as inexpensive as possible. We buy them directly from our manufacturer in quantities of 10,000 or more pieces of a given size, then repackage them in a variety of sizes appropriate for collectors and dealers. Most of the sizes that we make available are in a 3 mil (0.003") material thickness, the exception being the World Paper Money size, for which we specify a 4 mil material thickness.
Sleeves have a bottom fold, and are flat folded over at the top, with the ends open. This makes it easy to load your items. Since there is a tiny inside radius at the folds, the enclosed item can be the full inside dimension of the sleeve.
Sleeves can be used in combination with album pages, as well. Some collectors prefer to place their items in sleeves, then insert the sleeve into an album page, as they may move the item from place to place periodically. When your item is in a Mylar sleeve, it is protected from handling damage and finger oils; this is especially important for delicate or scarcer material. For example, to double protect a large US banknote, first place it in a large US currency sleeve (3-1/2" x 8-1/2"), then insert the sleeve into the next size album page (4" x 9"). Mylar is of such clarity that viewing an item through two layers is usually not an issue.
Other sizes can be made, but the minimum order size of 10,000 pieces must be met.
