Oregon Electric Railway Deferred Shares Oregon Electric Railway Deferred Shares

Oregon Electric Railway Deferred Shares, issued 1910. This book is also very intriguing, as it boasts only five issued certificates, including two which were cancelled as "Never Issued", only to be re-issued.

Certificate D1 and its stub are missing; however, from the context of the remaining evidence, the assumption is that it was issued to Edward T. Nichols, and cancelled before delivery. Number D2 was present, issued to Albert H. Kent, and cancelled before delivery as "Never Issued".

D3 was issued to Albert H. Kent, and D4 was issued to Edward T. Nichols. D2, D3 & D4 were all issued the same day, and for the same share amount, 1900 shares.

D5 through D12 were stamped cancelled by the trust company, and stamped "Never Issued" as well.

Certificate # D13 was absent, but the stub indicated a transfer of ownership of the previous certificates, D3 & D4, to the SP&S Railway Co., all 3800 shares.

From the original 250 pages, the remainder from D15 through D232 were present at the time of survey.

Ruth Realty Company Ruth Realty Company

Ruth Realty Company, incorporated July 1908, and issued from 1913 to 1968. Ruth Realty Company appears to have been the land-purchasing arm of the people behind the OERy and later, the SP&S. Signatures on the earlier certificates indicate that the President was J. H. Young, and the Secretary was W. F. Turner.

The #1 certificate and its' stub are both missing; however, information on later stubs indicate that #1 was issued to the Great Northern Railway Company, 1130-1/2 shares. Number 2 was issued to the Northern Pacific railway Company, same date, same amount. Almost all other certificates were issued for one share each.

This book spans a number of years, the sellout to the SP&S being done in 1925, at certificate numbers 40 & 41. (By that time, W.F. Turner had become President, and Robt. Crosbie was Secretary.) There are a few more in the late 1920's & 1930's, 1933 having been a good year for speculation. Like the earlier book of common shares, there are a few late transactions to clean up the books and close out the outstanding shares, the last 10 shares going to the SP&S in 1968 (#72). Issued & Cancelled pieces, 58; Unissued, 11, but 8 are torn badly

Ruth Trust Company Stock Ruth Trust Company Stock

Ruth Trust Company, Incorporated July 1908. This book apears to be the second book, as it is numbered from 101 to 200. We have no clue as to the reason for both a Ruth Realty Company and a Ruth Trust Company, but the stock books tell us that they both existed at about the same time.

According to the signatures, the President was J. H. Young, and the Secretary was W. F. Turner. At the time of survey, this book contained only 9, of the original 14, issued certificates. Numbers 115 through 183 are Unissued & Not Cancelled.Number 102 was issued in July of 1911, and the last issued piece, #114, was issued in Jamuary of 1913.

Oregon Electric Railway Bonds

Oregon Electric Railway Bonds, issue of 1908. Not found in the OERy archives, but mentioned here for completeness.

The directors on May 4, 1908, authorized the issue of $10,000,000 First Mortgage 5% 25-year Gold Bonds, to be dated May 1, 1908, and secured the issue by a mortgage of all properties, plants and franchises of the company, owned or thereafter to be acquired.

By meeting of May 29, 1909, resolution was adopted instructing the trustees to authenticate and turn over to the company for its use, $2,000,000 First Mortgage Bonds. These bonds were received by the company and were delivered to the Willamette Construction Company in part payment of cost of its railway lines.

These bonds constituted the entire amount issued by the company. They have been acquired by the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway Company.

Purchasing multiple Certificates:

Our Checkout System is not sophisticated enough to adjust the shipping charges equitably on multiple purchases; however, when we receive an order for multiple items, we will adjust the shipping charges accordingly and refund the overage to your account.

Dealers should inquire regarding larger orders; we do not have large quantities of many of the issued items.

Insurance is figured into the shipping charges for items $95 and up. If you purchase multiple items and the total goes over $100, we will include insurance as a matter of course. This will reduce any shipping overage refunded accordingly, too, of course.
